As happens in winter, we did not have a quorum at last month's meeting. Therefore, we do not have official minutes but we did try to conduct some business and trade some information. Here is an update: Margaret Burns has reluctantly resigned for health reasons. Margaret has been our treasurer for the last several years but beyond that she has been a very capable and dependable member of the board. She will be missed but I hope she will still attend our meetings and give us her thoughts. We will be looking for a taxpayer to join our board until the next annual meeting. Pete Iurato has again stepped up to the plate and has agreed to be acting treasurer for the rest of our year. Pete is going to prepare a recommendation to the board for our CD investments. The elementary school budget is one we feel we can endorse. In the interest of time it was felt that I should compose a letter and pass it around for your thoughts and input. I sent that last week, and will give it to the Star and Wave tomorrow unless you have serious problems with our position. Rich Reinhart has composed a letter of welcome to the Chairman of the newly formed Tourism Commission wishing them well and looking forward to working with them. Bill Smigo has volunteered to be the TPA representative to COCA. He is also going to tabulate the results of our recent "survey" and present them at the next meeting. Our recent membership drive (again Bill Smigo and Pete Iurato with help from their friends) was a huge success with over 500 responses for a membership total of almost 1000 people. Bill and Pete are going to continue to try and get old members who did not renew. The law firm looking into the LCMR funding formula has been gathering information for their anticipated report. We are not sure of the estimated completion date. The CRDA has approved funds for a new convention hall of 15% of costs up to a maximum of $3,000,000. The engineering feasibility study is underway and should be finished by Memorial Day.
